Sixty-Nine Team Members Graduate from Sandals Corporate University

The Sandals Grande Resort and Spa is reiterating its commitment to developing the proficiency and professionalism of its team members through courses offered at the Sandals Corporate University (SCU).

Sixty-nine individuals from various departments were recently presented with certificates of completion for courses focusing on various aspects of tourism related services.

This is the third awards ceremony that the resort has had for successful employees who have completed the training.

A very proud and elated Training and Development Manager, Sherene Bird explains, “This is also the largest batch of graduates we have had and I believe this can be attributed to an increased desire for learning and personal development.”

General Manager, Gaurav “Mr. G.” Sindhi, was also in attendance and commended the team members for their efforts to further develop their skills. He also encouraged them to strive for excellence not only on the job but all areas of life.

Through the successfully completion of the training, some of the team members have been granted promotions and other job offers within the establishment.

Certificates were awarded for Certified Guest Service Professionals, the Art of Selling, Certified Hospitality Supervisor, Leadership, Customer Service and Professional Communication.

SCU has partnered with leading and innovative educational institutions and training organizations such as Western Hospitality Institute (WHI) in order to augment the access and quality of team member learning.

The courses and programs are comprised of acute fundamentals that will allow team members to excel at their respective job functions; compete internationally on relevant subject matters pertaining to their profession and career; and demonstrate leadership and management bravado concurrent with international leaders in the hospitality industry. SCU was launched in March 2012 where team members have access to more than 230 courses and external partnerships with 13 top-ranking local and international universities with plans for even more expansion this year.
