Siteminder facilitates Channel Management workshop for AHTA members

A number of hotel sales and reservations employees were given an insight in the art of managing the various sources of reservations at a workshop at the Rex Halcyon Cove yesterday. The full day workshop was facilitated by Alex Brown, Senior Account Executive with one of the leading channel management companies “Siteminder” .
The participants were given an overview of the various channels with a particular emphasis on the OTA’s (online travel agencies) especially Expedia and Booking.com, the online tour operators, the wholesalers such as GTA, Hotelbeds etc… the metasearch sites, Trivago, Kayak etc.. and the GDS (Global Distribution System). The interrelationship between the channels was discussed and the importance of rate parity strongly emphasized.

Channel management allows a hotel to connect their property management system directly to the various reservation channels so that these benefit from real time inventory availability and a quick and simple means to updates rates across the channels.

The participants returned to their properties with a greater understanding of the best practices in managing their online presence.
