Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority partners with Jazz FM on promotional campaign for winter season

Primetime ‘Afternoon Drive’ show will broadcast live from Antigua for a week from Monday 26th September
Programme will showcase Antigua & Barbuda’s ‘Island Life’

The Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority has launched a month-long promotion with Jazz FM to showcase Antigua’s ‘My Island Life’ brand proposition ahead of the key winter sun season.

The activity comprises a 3 week pre-promotional drive, culminating in a week-long broadcast of Jazz FM’s drivetime show, Afternoon Drive, live from Antigua from Monday 26th September.

Jazz FM has 800,000 listeners, each of whom are estimated to hear the promotion an average of 11.2 times.  International listeners will be able to hear the broadcast online at jazzfm.com and new video content of the radio team’s experiences on island will be uploaded to the Jazz FM website daily.

The activity is a continuation of the destination’s My Island Life marketing campaign.  The Jazz FM team will be covering a range of Antiguan experiences, from a party at the world famous Shirley’s Heights, a trip to the island of Barbuda, Antigua’s traditional food and drink, and the island’s 365 beaches – one for every day of the year.  They will also be speaking on air to the Antiguan and Barbudan people who make these islands so special.  Jazz FM will also be broadcasting from St James’s Club Resort & Villas.

This activity takes place as Antigua & Barbuda gets ready for a special Year of Anniversaries in 2017.  Continuing on from the 35th Independence celebrations, next year Antigua will mark 50 years of Antigua Sailing Week, 60 years of Antigua’s Carnival – The Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival – and 30 years of Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.  This summer also saw the designation of the historical Nelson’s Dockyard as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Jean-Marc Flambert, Vice-President Sales and Marketing UK & Europe at the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority comments; “We are delighted to join forces with one of the UK’s leading commercial radio stations on this promotion and to have the opportunity to invite their listeners to experience ‘our island life’ through this series of rich and evocative live broadcasts.  We hope that this promotion will whet the listeners’ appetites with all Antigua has to offer and inspire them to visit our beautiful islands this winter season for themselves.”

A competition to win a week’s holiday to Antigua courtesy of British Airways, including return flights and accommodation at the all-inclusive resort, St James’s Club Resort & Villas, will also run as part of the promotion.

Jazz FM’s Afternoon Drive show, live from Antigua & Barbuda, will be broadcast from 3-6pm UK time from Monday 26th to Friday 30th September
