The stars of Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa came out in grand style last week for the Annual Prestige Awards.

The awards night recognized and rewarded team members from departments to include Food and Beverage, Landscaping, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Accounts, Weddings and Watersports, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

The list of winners include Ken Merrick – 2013 Resort Team Member of The Year from Restaurants, Marcia Powell – Runner-up Team Member of The Year from Weddings, Andrea Marshall – Manager of The Year who is responsible for Environment, Health and Safety, Nikeisha Dazell – Supervisor of The Year from Restaurants, Latoya Cabral – Most Guest Nominated from Bars and Andrew Belgrave of Maintenance who received the Sandals Foundation Community Spirit Award.

Adrian Peters from Kitchens copped the General Manager’s Award, Michelle Bagot – the Hotel Manager’s Award, Esther Samuel – Highest Revenue Earner, Sheldon Jhingoree from Accounts – Financial Controller’s Award, Craig Henry from Watersports for being the Most Improved, Marisa Lynch from Accounts – Sandals Earthguard Award and Latisha Jacobs from Restaurants for her Smile and Courtesy.

The Department of the Year Award was captured by Landscaping.

Biggest winner of the Prestige Awards night Ken Merrick was quite elated while speaking about his latest accomplishment. When asked what makes him an outstanding team member, Merrick said “I just love my job here at Sandals. Each day I come to work I am ready to make my guests smile and so I go the extra mile to ensure that it happens. Once you are in a happy place, you will perform to the best of your ability and what is more gratifying is when you are actually recognized for your efforts.”

In congratulating both nominees and winners, General Manager Gaurav “Mr. G” Sindhi noted, “It’s not every day you come across a group of people that would give one hundred and ten percent and team members who take pride in their work and carry out their daily duties with a smile on their faces. You have all been recognized for your efforts and we are so grateful to have you as part of our team. Thank you for helping to push our tourism product and for making this resort the world class luxury brand it is. You are all tourism ambassadors and I can truly say that I am proud to be a part of the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa family.”

The evening was filled with entertainment from both team members and managers who ended the ceremony performing the song “I Believe” by Yolanda Adams.

Caribbean Broadcaster and Journalist, Julian Rogers was the Master of Ceremony for the Sandals Grande Antigua Annual Prestige Awards.
