In the spirit of sharing, the Sandals Foundation is doing its part this December to make Christmas brighter for children in Antigua. The Foundation has continued what has become a Christmas tradition and partnered with Hasbro to host treats and distribute over 1000 gifts to children.
Foundation Director Heidi Clarke said they were extremely grateful to Hasbro who the donated toys for all the children as well as other donors who helped get the toys to the Caribbean and provided the logistics for the treats. She also thanked Sandals Grande Antigua and Grand Pineapple resorts which provided the food and beverage for all the treats.
“The Sandals Foundation works hard all year on projects to improve education, access for youth and community members to improved health, sports and skills training as well as environmental protection,” Clarke began.
“At the end of the year, we are pleased to share in the joy of over 91 Christmas treats (around the region) celebrating the people who work with us through the year to improve lives in the Caribbean.”
Throughout the month of December, the Foundation and volunteers from Sandals Grande Antigua and Grand Pineapple Resort are contributing to parties and gift giving at schools, orphanages, charitable and service organisations.
The supported institutions are: Cedar Grove Primary, Villa Primary, Wilikies Primary, Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) Paediatric Ward, the Museum, Salvation Army, Child & Family Guidance Centre, Boys Training School, Board of Guardians children’s fair, Good Shepherd Home, Health Hope and HIV Network children’s party.
