Antigua and Barbuda, renowned as one of the Caribbean’s leading wedding and honeymoon destinations has won the 2018 World Travel Award for ‘Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination’.
The win for Antigua and Barbuda, announced at the World Travel Awards Caribbean & North America Gala Ceremony 2018, means the country has now won the award an impressive four times in a row.
Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Charles Fernandez said it was an honour to be receiving the award. “Antigua and Barbuda has always been a favourite amongst honeymooning couples, and couples seeking a hassle-free destination wedding.
Our 4-peat win as ‘Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination’ serves a great endorsement for our romance product and the level of service we deliver year-on-year.”
Voted for by travel and tourism professionals and consumers worldwide, the award recognises the commitment to excellence which the organisation has demonstrated over the last twelve months.
Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) CEO Colin C. James said, working with a cross-section of partners, a number of marketing activities are planned throughout the year aimed at strategically growing the romance business.
The Tourism Authority’s 2018 Silver Magellan award-winning marketing campaign made it easy for consumers to receive information on romance packages and gave them the opportunity to enter sweepstakes to win free weddings and luxurious hotel stays; while the travel trade and press received new updates on the destination offerings.
The ABTA CEO said, “Consumers can certainly feel confident booking their weddings, honeymoons, vow renewals or romantic holiday to Antigua and Barbuda, knowing that we have the professional expertise on-island to meet their needs.”
In another win for Antigua and Barbuda in the romance arena, the destination was also recently named by The Caribbean Wedding Industry Awards as ‘Caribbean Honeymoon Destination of the Year’ and ‘Caribbean Most Romantic Destination of the Year’.
